The benefits of learning outdoors

While many children have a real interest in nature - sparked from books and from watching documentaries on their televisions - how many are actually experiencing nature directly?   We want children to get out there to find their own adventure and make their own connections with the natural world.

Studies have found that children benefit from being outside in many ways: it produces noticeable improvements in mental wellbeing and self-esteem; it can reduce levels of aggression and makes children happier;  it improves resilience and cooperation.

In our sessions, children will work with natural materials to be creative, problem solve, design, light fires and learn from the natural world around them.  These activities will help to generate ideas that teachers can use on return to the classroom, for example: to support creative writing in English; measurement in Maths and a whole host of topics across the curriculum from Science to Art
